Another week slips past, another week closer to my new job at Oracle. I can't wait to get started, and Pasadena sounds a real possibility. I quite like the sound of it.
The big event this week was the yesterday when I had a few guys round to play a game of Britannia. I'd swapped e-mails with Doug, Josg and Matt, but we'd never actually met until they arrived on the doorstep. Fortunately none of them were crazed, psychotic axe murderers, and we had a good game. Thanks, gents, I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to a regular get together to play some games.
What else? Oh, yes, I had my 3 month check and clean up at the dentist. They're still well pleased with the condition of my teeth compared to when I started going about a year ago, although I got more grief about not flossing enough and I should really think about getting my wisdom teeth removed. What is it with these guys and removing teeth? I don't see why I should give up my teeth just to make their lives easier. Still, I have been flossing every day since then. What a good boy, eh!
Last Tuesday I took the big step and called up Official Sports and ordered my referee uniform. It arrived today, so you can see a picture of me in black. I don't think I really suit black, but I'm looking forward to wearing the pink one. Damn! I meant fuscia.
Cathy didn't get up to anything exciting last week at all. She went off shopping with Catriona on Sunday afternoon, and I played with Colin and Graham. Colin had his soccer on Tuesday, and that's about all. They all had a day off school on Friday for teacher training. I tried to persuade them all to come down to Salem for lunch, but Cathy vetoed it. Perhaps in my last week when they have three daays off to parent - teacher conferences. I'll probably try to tak some time off to attend.
Oh, I almost forgot! The really big news this last week is that we heard from one mortgage broker who says that we should have pre-approval for a mortgage. Yippee! Not a huge one by local standards (up to $170k), but it's a start. Whether it will be enough to actually get anywhere even half way decent is another thing entirely, but it is, at least, a start.
I had a letter in the mail this past week from the chap who organized the soccer team last season just checking that we're all still interested in playing again in the Spring league. I'm still not too much of an old git to give up, but I'd like to concentrate some time on refereeing, and only partly because you get paid! I forgot to mention that I've registered with Portland Youth Soccer Association, Oregon Youth Soccer Association and Lake Oswego Soccer Club. I've got a PYSA refresher class next Monday, as they modify the rules for the youth soccer. They're wanting refs for the Spring youth league, Rec and Classic, about U10 to U15. I can do that, gie's a job.
One final thing. As promised, Colin's first efforts at a web page are now up for everyone to see. I'm trying to encourage him to have a go, and I know the school is interested in getting some of the students to set up a school page. Anyway, have a visit, and send him some mail.
Anyway, that's enough for this week.
