What has been going on this week. Well the Nike World Masters sports tournament started today. I survived the few minutes I played in today's game, but there are 2 games tomorrow, and another 2 on Wednesday. Add in the coaching clinic on Wednesday evening, and coaching the 5th grade Rec- Plus soccer and it's going to be a busy week.
The Rec-Plus started last Thursday. It went well enough, but I need more players. I started out with 12, gained a couple and lost a few more, so now I'm down to 10. I really need 16, so if you know of anyone...
Well, I now have my posterior parked in a rather fine leather chair while I work at the computer. I still don't have a desk (the monitor is on the upturned monitor box, and the keyboard sits on the ironing board. Cath wonders if I'll ever figure out its real use...), but at least I have a chair. Costco had a special deal on a Samsonite leather executive chair, $75 off the normal price of $200. Too good a bargain to miss, and I'm glad I didn't, because it's made a huge difference to my work here.
Speaking of work here, how do you like the new appearance of the web-site? With the menu bars at the bottom it was a real pain to add new topics, as it meant updating every page. Now I can just amend the menu in the frame to your left. I've also been playing with the scanner a fair bit, so there are some older photos of Cath and SK stuff about. Not bad for $50!
Work has been a grind this week. Well, not so much work as there's been a bit of a 'situation' at work. One person (a CPI guy) almost quit a week or so back, but I persuaded him to hold on a bit and see how it works out. It turns out that our manager has decided that he's got to be replaced. While the resolution is the best for all concerned, I do wish he'd ignored me and got his fist in first.
Cath will be real glad that school isn't far off as the kids are almost knocking lumps out of each other. This week they went off to Blue Lake Park, a man made beach in NE Portland, and the zoo. I've got some photos of the zoo (well, animals in the zoo), but Cath didn't take any photos of the kids at these places. I'll have to train her better...
Over here the stushie about Clinton and his activities are still in the news. The fat broad has got immunity, so we'll get the truth now. At least her version of it. This one will run a bit longer yet.
Overshadowing that, however, were the bombs in Kenya and Tanzania. Over 200 are now confirmed dead and almost 5000 injured. Of those, 12 were American citizens. An Islamic group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, and have vowed more attacks to force Americans and Western troops from Muslim countries. I'm sure that Kenya and Tanzania are happy to have friends like that, killing an injuring so many in the hope of getting a few US casualties. With friends like that they certainly don't need enemies. I, certainly, wasn't aware that they were Muslim countries anyway.
Well, that's enough for this week. I'll catch you all next week.
